MCA notifies Registrar of Companies to have jurisdiction over the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladhak

Ministry of Corporate Affairs (“MCA”) has notified that the Registrar of Companies will have jurisdiction in respect of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladhak, for the purpose of registration of companies and discharge of functions under the Companies Act 2013.

Registrar of Companies to act as adjudicating officer for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladhak

The Central Government on March 24, 2015 vide its notification number S.O.831 (E) appointed Registrars of Companies as adjudicating officers for the purposes of the Companies Act, 2013 for various jurisdictions. By this notification, Registrar of Companies-official Liquidator, Jammu will now have jurisdiction over the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh whereas earlier he/she had jurisdiction only over the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

Regional Director, North Region Directorate, shall discharge his functions in the Union Territory of Ladhak as well

By notification dated October 30, 2019, MCA has made amendment in the rights conferred to the Regional Director, North Region Directorate, Headquarter at New Delhi regarding discharge of the functions conferred upon him by the Companies Act, 2013 or delegated to him by the Central Government under that Act. Now he shall exercise these functions in the Union Territory of Ladhak as well along with the States of Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Union Territories of Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir and National Capital territory of Delhi.
